One thing that most likely won’t get talked about enough but should…..returning a guy that will have been in the offense as long as Robertson is huge for making the calls and getting everyone aligned when breaking in two new starters and potentially Baker moving from Tackle to Guard.

Read your comment about RB and I origin thought about a few teams that would have the RB depth that we would want to recruit their starter or backups. Michigan, Alabama, and Georgia came to mind. Michigan - Haynes has hit the portal which is who I was thinking. Alabama - Daniel Hill emerged as the starter as the year went on. Their backups are Kevin Riley (top 100 rb - RS freshman) and Akylin Dear (Sark was a big fan and was arguably the top RB coming out last year - true freshman). Both guys would make sense. Georgia - Chauncey Bowens makes a lot of sense. Another one: Keyjuan Brown - Louisville. They may have won the battle for Brown….but do they want to spend 800k on two different rb’s to go along with the other money they are spending. They just added another RB in the portal as well.

1. Don’t need to? Our OL is awful. It’s not getting better next year when Campbell and Hutson are gone with what is on campus. 2. No one is asking that Texas build an OL long term via the portal every year. We are in a championship window and to treat every other position on the team as such outside of OL is mis-management of the roster. QB, OL, and DL are the three most important positions on the field. 3. If underclassmen who aren’t good enough to beat out guys like Hutson, Robertson, Stroh, Neto, or a true freshman in Brooks get mad cause we want to bring in someone to win a championship for a year while they get to develop another year…..well bye then. They won’t let a guy like Brooks leave but he can’t be handed a job next year he hasn’t earned either.

In all seriousness this could potentially open the door for us to really close with a bang. Guys like: Davon Benjamin Trenton Henderson Kendal Guervil Jaimeon Winfield Lott Finley Kent Lee Roseborough Greene Simeon We can go back and spend to have the highest payroll in football and not miss out on anyone we really want due to NIL. Obviously we won’t get everyone but there are some on this list that we could potentially circle back to if we wanted because we now have the Collectives and the school budget to spend. Outside of collective deals going through approval this seems more like the flood gates are back open like they have been the last few seasons.

Oh baby! We back up! This opens the door again for us to have a much bigger payroll. Trenton Henderson you are a Texas Longhorn!
