Sources close to Alabama transfer tight end tell On Texas Football that Alabama tight end Amari Niblack is a serious target for the Longhorns. Niblack visited with Texas tight ends coach Jeff Banks on Wednesday.
Texas is a considered a serious threat in Niblack's recruitment. The Longhorns have already lassoed two members of the Crimson Tide from the portal - wide receiver Isaiah Bond and linebacker Kendrick Blackshire.
Niblack recorded 20 catches for 327 yards and four TDs in 2023, including a 39-yard touchdown catch against the Longhorns. Niblack, who is 6-3.5 and 220 pounds, attended Lakewood High School in St. Petersburg, Fla., and was ranked the No. 27 overall player in the country in the class of 2022 according to On3.

Alabama transfer linebacker Kendrick Blackshire has committed to Texas. Originally from Duncanville, Texas, Blackshire signed with the Crimson Tide out of high school despite overtures from the Longhorns.
Blackshire was a back-up linebacker for the Crimson Tide last season, recording 16 tackles in 2023. He is seen primarily as a run-stopping linebacker who also is a special teams stand out.
Blackshire is the sixth pledge the Horns have received from the NCAA transfer portal joining his former Alabama teammate Isaiah Bond, a wide receiver, defensive back Andrew Mukuba from Clemson, and wide receivers Silas Bolden of Oregon State and Matthew Golden of Houston.

Texas coach Steve Sarkisian wasted no time focusing on receiver Isaiah Bond, the Alabama receiver, when Bond officially entered the NCAA Transfer Portal on Friday.
Sarkisian made a beeline to Bond’s Georgia home the very day he entered the portal. The next day, Bond was on an official visit to Austin.
And the day following that? Bond decided to become a Longhorn.
Bond made 48 catches for 668 yards and four TDs in 2023 for the Crimson Tide. He is known for his elite speed, winning the Georgia state 100- and 200-meter in high school.
Bond is the second receiver Sark has identified and recruited from the transfer portal this campaign, following the earlier commitment of Houston’s Matthew Golden, himself also noted for his elite speed.
Sark is busy replacing a ton of production in his receiving corps. His top five pass catchers from last year are all headed to the NFL. Not only wide receivers Xavier Worthy, Adonai Mitchell and Jordan Whittington, but also JT Sanders and Jonathon Brooks.
