Update on Portal DL Tiaoalii Savea

Texas is hosting former Arizona DL Tiaoalii Savea this weekend for an official visit. Savea dropped the Horns in a tweet this afternoon as well.

OTF has confirmed this is not an indication of a commitment, however we do believe things are moving in the right direction here for the Longhorns.

Of course, Texas is in the market for interior defensive line help, and the 6-foot-4 and 305 lb Savea would be a welcomed addition to the Texas defense.

So if he is not in spring camp, why offer him now?

Savea would be if he commits, the space eating NT is on a yet to be fulfilled portal wish list that we will continue to shop for once the April portal window opens. Being vocal about your needs when you are a program with lots to offer opportunity-wise can be a lot like the concept of manifesting or speaking something into existence. Maybe Sark & PK have read The Alchemist and the universe will conspire to help them achieve their personal legends 😉🤘🏽

Bobby, haven’t heard much about this young man! Will he have an immediate impact or is he more for added depth?

They wouldn’t be recruiting him through the portal unless they thought he could have an impact.

He originally signed with UCLA then transferred to Arizona. He was in their DT rotation this year. He goes 6-4, 305 and had 22 tackles and six TFL this season.

Savea is a spring enrollee.

I’m talking about the next guy, whoever that may be, is likely not a spring enrollee.

Oh, Okay.  When I hear mid term I am thinking mid year like June.
