ATLANTA — Texas has left the building, but OTF is still at the College Football Hall of Fame, ready for day No. 3 of SEC Media Days.

On the heels of a memorable Tuesday for Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns, Wednesday’s activity begins with Alabama and Mississippi State this morning, followed by Florida and Oklahoma in the afternoon. Kalen DeBoer kicks things off when he takes the podium at 8:05 a.m., with Jeff Lebby (9:50 a.m.), Billy Napier (noon) and Brent Venables (1:45 p.m.) rounding out the coaches' press conferences on the main stage.

Lagway on his shoulder:

"I don't have a prosthetic arm, I am just going to let y'all know that (laughing)... But I am feeling great. Training has been amazing. I am actually getting better at just thinking about getting back to throwing the ball. I have been working on my mechanics that is going to help my mechanics this year and my decision making. I am just excited about getting out there with the guys for that first week."

Gerry and I are listening to Oklahoma's Robert Spears-Jennings.

He said Brent Venables is "one of the greatest defensive coaches ever." Venables decided to call the defense for OU in 2025 (even though defense wasn't their problem last season).

DJ Lagway on his faith:

I definitely say faith is a huge part of my life. Having God as the foundation has been wonderful, because, as you said, there's a lot of ups and downs on the football field, even in life, but having that foundation to keep me strong is beneficial."

"That rivalry is probably the biggest rivalry in college football." — Robert Spears-Jennings on the Texas-OU rivalry

Spears-Jennings said Jaydn Ott has "a good little burst to him."

OU is looking to get the 2023 version of Ott this season (1,315 yards rushing and 12 touchdowns for Cal).

Venables: "We've had a lot of changes since January... Between portal, recruiting, new coaches, new offense, new GM structure. But we've also had tremendous retention."

Brent Venables: "This is a team I love to be in the building with every day and I believe they have the ability it takes to claw back to where I believe Oklahoma belongs."

Venables on losing two of the last three Red River Shootouts: “We’ll get back on track and we look forward to the opportunity. Two years ago was reflective of the type of game that it should be and will be moving forward."
