We believe John Timu is joining the Texas coaching staff in some capacity, most likely as a defensive assistant but not in an on-field capacity. Timu spent last season as the assistant defensive line coach for the San Diego Chargers. He played at the University of Washington and three seasons in the NFL at linebacker for the Chicago Bears. Timu was recruited to Washington by current Texas linebackers coach Johnny Nansen while on Steve Sarkisian's staff in Seattle.

The 5th offer of the afternoon has been extended to 2025 Lake Travis DE Gus Cordova. Texas did not have to go far for this evaluation with the Lake Travis end coming down to campus for the Junior Day. If you want to talk about toughness, Cordova showed up to campus today in a t-shirt with the sub-30 degree temperatures pestering just about everyone else in attendance. Texas joins the mix for Cordova, who now holds 18 offers – including Oklahoma, Texas A&M, TCU and SMU.
