Two message board topics — one on P.J. Tucker’s recent retirement and a discussion about Longhorn football players who could fly — got me thinking about an unlikely long-tenured pro athlete from the Forty Acres who could scoot. The 2016 NFL Draft cycle wasn’t one to write home about for the Texas program. Hassan Ridgeway was the only Longhorn invited to the NFL Scouting Combine and the only lone draft pick Texas produced. Ridgeway was a fourth-round pick by the Indianapolis Colts, one of fo

Happy Independence Day! There are three Texas targets expected to make verbal commitments today. After securing a commitment from OTF 4-star+ linebacker Kosi Okpala on Thursday, the Longhorns’ 2026 recruiting class stands at 16 members. Coming into Friday, Steve Sarkisian’s fifth full-cycle class on the Forty Acres was ranked No. 14 nationally by 247Sports and No. 16 by Rivals. We know when each of the three recruits is expected to make the call. The OTF staff will keep you update

We believe John Timu is joining the Texas coaching staff in some capacity, most likely as a defensive assistant but not in an on-field capacity. Timu spent last season as the assistant defensive line coach for the San Diego Chargers. He played at the University of Washington and three seasons in the NFL at linebacker for the Chicago Bears. Timu was recruited to Washington by current Texas linebackers coach Johnny Nansen while on Steve Sarkisian's staff in Seattle.

The 5th offer of the afternoon has been extended to 2025 Lake Travis DE Gus Cordova. Texas did not have to go far for this evaluation with the Lake Travis end coming down to campus for the Junior Day. If you want to talk about toughness, Cordova showed up to campus today in a t-shirt with the sub-30 degree temperatures pestering just about everyone else in attendance. Texas joins the mix for Cordova, who now holds 18 offers – including Oklahoma, Texas A&M, TCU and SMU.

AUSTIN, Texas — No moment has been too big for Anthony Pack Jr. throughout his exceptional freshman season on the Forty Acres. The opening game of the NCAA Tournament’s Austin Regional on Friday was no different for Pack, who hit three home runs in a 19-1 rout of Holy Cross at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. “I just went out there like every other game,” said Pack, who roughed up the Crusaders’ pitching staff to the tune of a 3-for-3 day, with four runs scored and five RBI. “I don't think anything c

TAMPA, Fla. — Arch Manning’s goal coming out of the 2025 season and entering his second campaign as QB1 on the Forty Acres was simple. “Stay present,” Manning said while making the rounds at SEC Media Days in Tampa on Thursday. “Take it one day at a time.” For Manning, who was under a white-hot spotlight before he ever took a snap in a Texas uniform, that’s easier said than done. Still, Manning has grown while learning how to deal with life in a fishbowl ahead of what figures to be his
