Spoke to a couple of sources regarding Tuesday's practice and practice generally over the first seven sessions. Here are a few notes: - "Tre Wisner has two speeds -- standing still or full throttle. When he goes, he goes all out on every play." With a quote like that, it's easy to see why Steve Sarkisian praised the sophomore from DeSoto. - Ryan Wingo has been very good. He's still working on his route running but he is not backing down, he has not hit the freshman wall. - I

What I've learned from Thursday's practice... - It's very early, but Billy Walton has looked very active, very smart and could be one of the guys from the class of 2023 ready to take the next step, according to sources. Not the name many of you probably expected to hear first, but he's closer to playing significantly than some may expect. - Jaray Bledsoe was described as perhaps the most athletic player in the entire program, despite being a defensive tackle. The team has yet to start

I love football. I love talking about football. I love writing about football. I love talking and writing about Texas Longhorn football. Forgive me then for not champing at the bit to dissect a war of words between Texas and Texas Tech that’s devolved into an obnoxious publicity stunt. Hopefully, we’re nearing the end of this tiresome situation and can get back to actual football matters in the near future. Consider this my part in helping put it to bed. Joey McGuir

AUSTIN, Texas — As is the case with most spring games, regardless of the format, there wasn’t enough on display in Saturday’s open practice to draw finite conclusions about the Texas Longhorns in 2026. Still, what could be gleaned from a thud tempo scrimmage on a cold, dreary day at Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium answered a few questions on a day when the curtain fell on a productive spring for Steve Sarkisian’s program. And, obviously, there are also things we won’t know about until Texas ki

Here are some quick hitters from Thursday's practice, the second of training camp for the Texas Longhorns: — Wide receiver Ryan Wingo and offensive lineman DJ Campbell weren't at practice. There was no official word on the status of either Longhorn immediately after the window. With Wingo out, there was more work available for Emmett Mosley V and Jaime Ffrench, who caught the eyes of the OTF staff today. With that said, Parker Livingstone made his presence felt without Wingo on the fie

Texas offered 2025 Alamo Heights ATH Michael Terry III over the weekend during the Junior Day. Terry did not shy away from discussing how much the Texas offer meant to him. Following the trip, Terry mentioned Texas joined TCU and Texas Tech in his top 3 grouping. Should Texas fully pursue Terry, I would give them the nod in this recruitment. There are some connections to the Texas program here that will work in the Longhorns' favor behind the scenes. The Longhorns did not discuss

I checked in over the weekend to get an update on portal transfer addition Amari Niblack since his addition to the program. Since joining the program, I have been told Niblack has had a seamless transition. Of course, it never hurts adding a contributing piece from an Alabama program that had been the gold standard under Nick Saban. Niblack played the 2023 season in the 230-235 pound range. Since the conclusion of the season, Niblack has been working to add to his frame. I have been to

If you read Bobby Burton’s Monday post regarding trends emerging in spring practice, the first four had to do with the outstanding transfer class Steve Sarkisian and the organization reeled in during the portal window. To continue the theme of highlighting a deep, talented group of incoming transfers, I wanted to rank the five previous transfer hauls from the most to the least impactful. If nothing else, it’ll help set the bar for what the 2026 group of Longhorn newcomers must accomplish to
