	There was a common theme amongst recruits in attendance at the first scrimmage of the spring yesterday – Texas plays and practices physically. It is a necessity in the world of SEC football and from the first returns, it appears the tone is being set nine practices into the spring.
</p>

<p>
	In our conversations with recruits yesterday, it brought up time and time again.
</p>

<p>
	***
</p>

<p>
	<strong>WR Dakorien Moore – Duncanville (TX)</strong>
</p>

<p>
	"Definitely the freshman that just got here, Ryan Wingo. Oh my God, I have never seen him play before, but I had been hearing he is a really good player. But he is big and he makes plays for real."
</p>

<p>
	<strong>WR Kaliq Lockett – Sachse (TX)</strong>
</p>

<p>
	"My boy, Johntay (Cook) stood out as always. Even Ryan Wingo, the freshman, he is legit... Definitely who stood out to me was the running back Jaydon Blue. He was running that thing today."
</p>

<p>
	<strong>WR Jaime Ffrench – Jacksonville (FL)</strong>
</p>

<p>
	"I loved it. Really just getting to see Coach Jackson in person and see how he is as a person, that was really my main focus on getting out here.
</p>

<p>
	"My boy (Isaiah) Bond. Definitely Ryan Wingo, he is a young cat standing out early for sure. He is a great guy, I have been knowing him for a while. Just watching him get out there was always cool."
</p>

<p>
	<strong>OL Jordan Coleman – Cedar Hill (TX)</strong>
</p>

<p>
	Coleman said he was shocked watching a Texas offensive lineman pick up and bury a defensive player on a designed run play.
</p>

<p>
	"One of those (offensive linemen), I'm not going to lie, he drilled him into the ground. I was like "daaaang!" And then there was another tight end on the sidelines, he tried to hurdle somebody. I think it was number 85 – he tried to hurdle two players, I was like, 'Are you crazy?!' He almost had it too."
</p>

<p>
	<strong>OL Tyler Thomas – Dickinson (TX)</strong>
</p>

<p>
	"The pace of practice was really fast, if I end up here I would have to adapt to that really quick. I like that though because you get to get through practice quick. It was really nice."
</p>

<p>
	Thomas mentioned watching a lot of Kelvin Banks and Cam Williams during the scrimmage.
</p>

<p>
	<strong>DL Zion Williams – Lufkin (TX)</strong>
</p>

<p>
	"Getting to see those dudes get coached by Coach Baker was something pretty cool. Especially when they got out there to teams (period) – in our teams (period) at school we don't get to hit each other. But to see them be super competitive and hit each other like that and not get mad about really did show me how well connected those guys are. I know a few people if they got hit like that on the football field at practice some helmets would be flying. So it showed me they are dedicated to making each other better as a whole."
</p>

<p>
	<strong>DL Joshua Lewis – Geismar (LA)</strong>
</p>

<p>
	"What stood out to me was it was very apparent why they are going to the SEC. They are really competitive. Everybody is big everywhere but out here it was very apparent. They are aggressive up front and a well-established team. I liked how they practiced.
</p>

<p>
	Lewis mentioned a drill during practice with three OL and three DL lined up together with a RB and LB behind each line to resemble a trench look as a drill he really enjoyed watching.
</p>

<p>
	<strong>LB Elijah Barnes – Dallas (TX)</strong>
</p>

<p>
	"I liked the intensity that they brought and the energy that they brought to practice. It was high energy with a lot of people moving around fast. They were getting after it today."
</p>

<p>
	<strong>CB Aidan Anding – Ruston (LA)</strong>
</p>

<p>
	"Oh, it was physical. Them boys were getting after it. I liked how the defense was doing their thing out there today. For the most part I felt like they won the day. So yeah, I liked the physicality out there.<b>"</b>
</p>

<p>
	<strong>2026 QB Troy Huhn – San Marcos (CA)</strong>
</p>

<p>
	"During the scrimmage (the quarterbacks) all looked really good, they are going to kill it this year and it is going to be fun to watch. They do RPO's often and I use that in my high school a lot. So they will play action a lot for those deep crossing routes and deep corners. It is a really exciting offense and really explosive offense as well. It is a quarterback system also, it is quarterback driven. It would be really fun if I were to play here."
</p>

<p>
	<strong>2026 RB Raycine Guillory Jr. </strong>
</p>

<p>
	"My big impression was the flow of practice and how everybody has to move quickly. Just seeing Coach Choice in action and being the person that everybody wants to see. Coach Choice, he is just a great guy. Seeing him on the field and off the field, he is the same person and I love that."
</p>

	<strong>Big visit weekend: In person reaction</strong>
</p>

<p>
	OnTexasFootball was on hand in Austin Saturday for the big visit weekend, which actually began Friday with a key surprise visitor.
</p>

<p>
	<strong>Hello Myron Charles</strong>
</p>

<p>
	The 4-star defensive tackle out of Port Charlotte (Fla.) was on campus Friday with a Sunshine State 7v7 team. Word OnTexasFootball received Saturday after the visit was the 6-4, 290 pound lineman is expected back on campus, and that could happen as soon as April 20. A June OV is on the table after Friday's visit. Florida State, Miami and Florida are considered the top contenders currently, with the Seminoles receiving the most buzz by people close to the recruitment in the Sunshine State. Florida, Miami and Florida State already have June OV's on the books.
</p>

<p>
	<strong>Trending Texas</strong>
</p>

<p>
	Four-star LB <strong>Elijah Barnes</strong> (Dallas/Skyline) continues to trend to Texas. Barnes and family stayed in Austin Saturday night, and will meet with Steve Sarkisian mid-morning. Barnes' visit schedule: Texas A&amp;M April 13, Oregon April 20, Nebraska OV April 26-28, Ohio State OV May 31-June 2 and Texas June 21-23.
</p>

<p>
	<strong>Jordan and Devin Coleman</strong> (Cedar Hill, Texas/High) are higher on Texas than even before after Saturday's visit. The large humans got to watch Kyle Flood work up close, spend time around the Texas players and get an even better feel for the Texas program and university. The Coleman's will be back on campus June 21-23 for an official visit, and a decision will come after the visits conclude, at the latest.
</p>

<p>
	Four-star 2026 QB <strong>Troy Huhn</strong> (San Marcos, Calif./Mission Hills) made the three day trip with his father. Huhn, 6-4.5 and 195 pounds, was all positives in talking to OTF Saturday. He has spent plenty of time with Steve Sarkisian and A.J. Milwee on the visit. There was also some Texas related news with the family Saturday. Huhn's older sister Maddy Huhn was a freshman basketball played at Miami (Ohio) in 2023-24. She entered the portal and will be transferring to UT-RGV.
</p>

<p>
	Four-star OL <strong>John Mills</strong> (San Francisco, Calif./St. Ignatius) remained on campus Saturday night, and will head back to California today. Mills spent some time Saturday night with some of the Texas offensive linemen, including freshman center Daniel Cruz. Texas would take a commitment right now, as OnTexasFootball has been reporting for months. Washington is putting up a fight, has a May 31-June 2 OV scheduled and there are several family members that have played sports at UW.
</p>

<p>
	Houston area 4-star defensive back <strong>Kade Phillips</strong> (Missouri City, Texas/Hightower) made the trip with his mom and dad. Kade and family met with Steve Sarkisian Saturday, and Sarkisian and staff left zero doubt how much the Horns want Phillips in the class and in the program. Phillips will be at LSU April 13 for the Tigers spring game, Baylor last weekend in April for an official visit, and June OV's to LSU, Texas A&amp;M and Texas. The Horns will get the final word June 21-23.
</p>

<p>
	<strong>New June 21-23 OV added</strong>
</p>

<p>
	Make no mistake, Texas loves Ruston (La.) High cornerback <strong>Aidan Anding</strong>. Anding was on campus Saturday with his mom and brother. The result of the first in person visit for Anding and meeting with the Texas staff resulted in a June 21-23 official visit being set up. Anding visited Miami (Fla) last weekend, and Arkansas earlier in the week.
</p>

<p>
	<strong>Dorian Brew</strong>
</p>

<p>
	Conroe (Texas) High 4-star cornerback Dorian Brew made his way to Austin with his mom Saturday. Brew, 6-2 and 197 pounds, said he has his official visit date locked in to Texas. The June 14-16 date is likely with Ohio State being June 21-23. Texas is locked in a national battle with the Buckeyes, USC and LSU.
</p>

<p>
	<strong>Wide receiver recruiting</strong>
</p>

<p>
	Five-star wide receiver and LSU pledge <strong>Dakorien Moore</strong> (Duncanville, Texas/High) arrived in Austin Friday night, and stayed over Saturday night. He spent time with Colin Simmons and other Texas players last night following the recruiting event and meeting with Steve Sarkisian and staff members. Moore and his mom will meet again with Sarkisian Sunday before departing to head back to DFW. Moore is scheduled to be back in Austin April 20 for the spring game. He is not currently scheduled to attend the LSU spring game April 13, as he has OT7 7v7 in Dallas next weekend. OTF believes a June 21-23 official visit date to Texas will be announced by Moore in the near future.
</p>

<p>
	<strong>Jaime Ffrench</strong> (Jacksonville, Fla./Mandarin) made a two day visit to Texas with family members which began on Friday. After the visit, the 5-star receiver out of the Sunshine State told C.J. Vogel that Texas has joined Ohio State and Tennessee in the top three. Ffrench will make a return visit June 21-23. Gird up your loins for a national fight that also includes Miami and FSU.
</p>

<p>
	<strong>Kaliq Lockett</strong> (Sachse, Texas/High) was on campus with his mom and dad. The family loves the academic/football combination at Texas, and that is not just talk. The family is not looking solely at football in this process. There is complete fit that is the goal - academically, football, a culture and staff that can continue to mold Lockett as a young man and trust in development in all areas. Texas is right at the top of the list headed into the remainder of the spring. Lockett and family will be back in Austin June 21-23 for an OV.
</p>

<p>
	Hitchcock (Texas) High 4-star wide receiver <strong>Kelshaun Johnson</strong> was back on campus Saturday. The Galveston County electric playmaker spent time with Steve Sarkisian and Chris Jackson on Saturday. He's scheduled to make a return visit June 14-16. Texas Tech is a factor with teammate, quarterback and good friend Lloyd Jones on the Red Raiders commit list. A June 21-23 OV to USC is also a big factor, and Johnson is expected in LA later this month.

	Texas was on the field this morning for the first scrimmage of the spring season. Some notes that were passed on to On Texas Football following the live action.
</p>

<p>
	***
</p>

<p>
	– RG <strong>DJ Campbell</strong> did not finish the scrimmage in pads and was treated with an ice wrap on his shoulder.
</p>

<p>
	When Campbell was out of the lineup, <strong>Neto</strong> <strong>Umeozulu</strong> was the filler at right guard with Hayden Conner occupying the left guard position.
</p>

<p>
	– I am told the offense had a very strong day in the red zone today with multiple conversions consecutively in a designed goal-to-go period of practice. Ewers had a pair of touchdowns in the session, and the OL was able to create push for scores as well.
</p>

<p>
	– OTF also learned Texas OL <strong>Payton</strong> <strong>Kirkland</strong> was seen getting individual work with the training staff on the back field during the first half of practice. Kirkland has been recovering from a knee injury suffered last year.
</p>

<p>
	– From a recruiting perspective, OTF has learned five-star ATH <strong>Jonah<strong> </strong>Williams</strong> took a trip midway through the scrimmage to Disch-Falk Field. First pitch for Texas Baseball in the rubber match with BYU this afternoon is at 2:30 p.m., so Williams was able to catch some pregame warmups and views of the Disch.
</p>

<p>
	***
</p>

<p>
	UPDATE:
</p>

<p>
	A few more notes have been shared with On Texas Football regarding the scrimmage this afternoon:
</p>

<p>
	– QB <strong>Arch Manning</strong> connected with portal TE <strong>Amari</strong> <strong>Niblack</strong> for a 30-yard touchdown.
</p>

<p>
	Both Manning and Ewers had solid showings today. Neither threw an interception during the afternoon. There was a span in which touchdowns were scored on four consecutive drives between the two quarterbacks.
</p>

<p>
	– RB <strong>Jaydon</strong> <strong>Blue</strong> found the end zone on a physical run that left <strong>David</strong> <strong>Gbenda</strong> and <strong>Derek</strong> <strong>Williams</strong> <strong>Jr.</strong> on their backs. I was told Blue is running much more physically this spring and remains a massive threat in space with the ball.
</p>

<p>
	– The lone turnover on the day was a fumble from <strong>CJ</strong> <strong>Baxter</strong>.
</p>

<p>
	– There was great praise for EDGE <strong>Trey</strong> <strong>Moore</strong> in his first scrimmage as a Longhorn. While the splash plays weren't necessarily the headliner here, I was told it is only a matter of time before you hear more about Moore this spring. <strong>Cam</strong> <strong>Williams</strong> and Moore have had some entertaining battles during the spring and today added to their ongoing war.
</p>

<p>
	Adding to the EDGE spot, I was told <strong>Barryn Sorrell</strong> was nearly unguardable. There were very high remarks for Sorrell specifically in the running game – goes without saying, but a massive development for Texas.
</p>

<p>
	– Freshman WR Ryan Wingo earned some reps with the first and second units today.
</p>

<p>
	– All in all, it was a much better day for the offense than the defense per a source. Quinn Ewers looked poised and confident throwing the ball and both offensive line units were able to manufacture success in the run and pass game.
</p>

<p>
	– "<strong>David Gbenda</strong> just flies around everywhere."
</p>

	Port Charlotte (Fla.) High 4-star defensive lineman Myron Charles was on campus at Texas today per a source
</p>

<p>
	Charles, 6-4 and 290, was offered by Jeff Banks in January after a stop by Port Charlotte High.
</p>

<p>
	This was a first visit to Texas for Charles.
</p>

<p>
	Florida State is considered the early leader over Miami and Florida.
