HOOK 'EM | Texas Flips OL Kaden Scherer

2026 Georgetown OL Kaden Scherer Flips to Texas

***

Bang!

Two days, two commits for the Texas Longhorns, both of which coming out of Georgetown High!

Kaden Scherer becomes the latest to join the Texas 2026 class and it comes on the heels of an official visit over the weekend with the Horns.

Scherer, a 6-foot-7, 285-pound offensive line, said he grew up rooting and watching the Longhorns as a kid in Georgetown and when the offer came in, it was a very big deal for him.

Texas adds another offensive lineman to the class. Scherer told me last week Texas was pitching both tackle and guard to him, wanting to see how he would develop and progress physically.

Is this the one Bobby’s been hinting at?

Save the OL powder for the portal and no doubter types like Banks. Exactly the type of HS OL we should be targeting. Inexpensive with decent ceiling.

Could Scherer be used in an Agbo role at tight end in heavy run sets?

Ah still with this whole star thing lmao, it’s a kid who wants to play for the good guys just be happy with it.

If the kid is a dawg then bring him on board!

So far in the 2026 HS class, the 3 OL committed are not expected to be day 1 starters and they each have solid frames to grow into! I like this strategy of going with more athletic guys who can grow into their frames instead of needing guys to trim down.

Agree, I meant it in a good way, couple of years, he could be a good tackle

You can be excited about a kid choosing a great university and also be concerned about the class finish

Who was the last rod grader guard we recruited?  DJ?  Is Robertson going to be like DJ?  Seems like we target tackles and don’t get a lot of interior guys, but maybe I am missing something on the recruiting news.

You mean like Stroh?

CJ does Texas still have interest in the OL that decommitted from Alabama today?

What if half of those lands are 4 stars in a month? Wouldn’t be the first time.

This sounds like a another development project which we have a lot of already. Hope we see him contribute in a couple years.

So no other SEC schools is seeing what we’re seeing.  Guy has zero other SEC offers and we’re suppose to sing the praises of this take because Goolsby was also a 3-Star.

He may turn out to be a 4 year starter but why jump to offer him now when he has no other equivalent offers on the table?

Was super impressed with the fluidness of his footwork on a couple of the hudl plays.

Guys, Pull his offer ASAP. The armchair offensive line expert has spoken. We don’t need guys on the rosters with NO other SEC offers.

Ideally, he starts his redshirt Junior year when he's 21 years old, full beard, man strength.
