Announcement Thread: Three in-state decisions on July 4

Happy Independence Day!

There are three Texas targets expected to make verbal commitments today.

After securing a commitment from OTF 4-star+ linebacker Kosi Okpala on Thursday, the Longhorns’ 2026 recruiting class stands at 16 members. Coming into Friday, Steve Sarkisian’s fifth full-cycle class on the Forty Acres was ranked No. 14 nationally by 247Sports and No. 16 by Rivals.

We know when each of the three recruits is expected to make the call. The OTF staff will keep you updated on any changes throughout the day.

Felix Ojo, OT, Mansfield Lake Ridge

OTF 4-Star+

Time: 1 p.m.

Finalists: Florida, Michigan, Ohio State, TEXAS, Texas Tech

Note: Ojo is expected to announce his decision on X (formerly Twitter).

John Turntine III, OT, North Crowley

OTF 5-Star

Time: 2:15 p.m.

Finalists: Michigan, Stanford, TEXAS, Texas A&M

Note: Turntine's ceremony is scheduled to start at noon. He's expected to announce his decision on X (formerly Twitter).

Kaydon Finley, WR, Aledo

OTF 4-Star+

Time: 6:30-7 p.m.

Finalists: Arizona State, Notre Dame, TEXAS, Texas A&M

    @Gerry Hamilton and @CJ Vogel TE Brayden Fogle committed to Georgia. Does that have any affect on Texas' chances with Protho and/or Kent at the TE position?

    No change on their pursuit of Prothro. Georgia has pitched being an X/TE piece in their offense.

    UGA also wants 2-3 tight ends this cycle.

    Texas will likely be ranked anywhere from 6-9 when the ball is kicked to begin the 2025 season, and Texas' class will have a lot of runway 

    Of the big hitters, do you expect Turntine, Carlton, Matthews, Rouse and/or Aktinson in the class by the start of the season.

    Also I remember this time last year we’re were wondering if we would have a top 5 class then sark closed in some big hitters late like Charles, Terry x2, and Littleton 

    Also I have a weird feeling Texas will flip Green from Washington and land Guerval late. 
     

    I don’t think Florida will be good enough for them to keep Napier

    Am I the only one that’s kind of turned off by the whole situation and how it’s played out? I would pull out of this race if I was Texas and let the kid take the biggest bag at Texas Tech. Good for him if he can get that much money out of them…stay on Lee or maybe look to flip Roseborough during the season.

    Very few people are blessed with 1st round LT frame like Ojo.  But his entire recruitment and vibe feels off.  Picking Tech would feel appropriate.  Picking Texas would be a sign he wants to be more than “potential”.
