I'm elated to be a part of On Texas Football. My conversations with Bobby and Gerry recently reminded me of the early days of building the Texas site for 247Sports. What made those days exciting (and, for me, when working in the market was the most fulfilling) was that the bottom line was about building a community where fans who bled burnt orange wanted to be. That’s what excites me about continuing to write about, analyze, and report on the Longhorns with OTF. August 2010 wasn’t the

Pitt Linebacker Rasheem Biles Commits to Texas *** A huge addition to the portal class comes in Saturday evening! Texas lands one of the top linebackers in the 2026 portal window with the addition of former Pitt LB Rasheem Biles.  The Longhorns were desperately in need of top linebacker talent and they get it following the visit of Biles on Saturday.  Massive for addition for Will Muschamp’s defense as they continue to build heading into year one

If you would’ve told me ahead of Saturday’s game that Texas would win the rushing yardage battle over Ohio State by 89 yards (166-77), limit the Buckeyes to a 4-for-14 effort on money downs (3-for-12 on third down and 1-for-2 on fourth down), hold the Ohio State offense to 3.8 yards per play and dominate field position (the averaging starting field position for the Longhorns was their own 32-yard line, while the Buckeyes’ averaging starting field position was their own 20), I would’ve expected t

After having its five-game winning streak snapped, Texas returns to Moody Center to face arguably its toughest test of the 2025-26 season when it hosts No. 7 Florida on Wednesday (6 p.m., ESPN2). While the Longhorns remain on the right side of the NCAA Tournament bubble, a win over the Gators would likely lock Texas (17-10, 8-6 SEC) into the field of 68. Getting by Florida (21-6, 12-2), which sits atop the SEC standings and enters Wednesday’s game on a seven-game winning streak, will take n

Earlier today around 1pm on his ranch, Jordan Shipley, the former Texas wide receiver, was involved in an accident. Shipley escaped the accident with the help of a worker nearby but he was severely burned in the process. Shipley was care-flighted to Dell-Seaton Hospital in Austin and is currently undergoing the first of what will likely be several surgeries ahead. Please pray for Jordan and his family, as well as his dad Bob Shipley, who is on the way to the hospital to be with Jordan

Alright, same rules as always. Closest score to the final gets a free year's subscription. Or they can give it to someone else like Bobbers did last week. Couple of rules: - Only one entry per person. - Only one winner. If there's a tie, the person who registered their pick first wins. ** Texas 20- Oklahoma 17

Hook ‘Em! From College Station to Austin! Texas lands former Texas A&M freshman offensive tackle Jonte Newman out of the transfer portal. Newman, originally out of Bridgeland High in Cypress, Texas, makes the move from the Aggies to the Longhorns after just one year. Newman had committed to the Aggies pretty early in his recruitment after being pursued heavily by Texas and many others. Now, Kyle Flood and Steve Sarkisian get an additional offensive tackle piece for the de

The Texas offense is bad. I won’t declare it broken. I believe it can be repaired and that the Longhorns can put a product on the field capable of helping them win games in the SEC. But Steve Sarkisian’s offense regressed from a middle-of-the-road performance against San Jose State to a clunker in Saturday’s 27-10 win over UTEP. After three games, Texas is 12-for-42 on third down, 5-for-12 on fourth down and 8-for-13 in the red zone with six touchdowns, two field goals, two interc

As Saturday’s 29-21 loss to Florida unfolded, it became clear that Texas has significant issues. Some of those issues can be fixed over the seven remaining games on the regular-season schedule, but others will require changes after the season. Still, Saturday’s loss to the Gators came down to the Longhorns losing the line of scrimmage battle in a landslide. From the jump, Florida (2-3, 1-2 SEC) punched Texas (3-2, 0-1) in the mouth up front and never let up. The Gators finished th
