Man, thoughts and best wishes for anyone around Treasure Beach and pretty much the entire island.

Coming in at absolute worst angle for the island

May actually be getting stronger on approach too

Likely 899-900mb and at least 175mph

-2.67c

no eyewall replacement cycle either to weaken it

worst case scenario unfolding

You guys might know me as campmabry weatherman on the coffee/football chat.

Monitoring this storm has been my sole purpose in life for my unit over the last week. The current models we have aren’t strong enough to truly measure how fast these sustained winds will be over 184mph. Same goes for pressure. This is truly a worst case scenario situation.

Devastating. I saw the hurricane hunters had to turn around early yesterday bc the turbulence was so bad. Prayers to everyone in its path 🙏

Thank you for adding to this thread

Yeah, I don’t think there is anyway to truly report how strong this one is

Seen a post that said it reached 241 MPH. INSANE!

I went through hurricane Carla in 1961 and I have had a healthy respect for them since.

They are fascinating.

Prayers for those in the path for spiritual & physical safety.

Slower moving than Harvey and hitting the same mountainous terrain as Helene/North Carolina. It’s just impossible to put into words how catastrophic of a situation this is

Got caught in a microburst 65 mph

dead of night…. Zero wind…. Heard the halyards ding ding in a different rhytem…. Went out in cockpit…. Saw a dark band …. And decided to double tie my skiff …. The minute i step into skiff….. boooooooooooooom

barely pulled in 10 ft of rope from skiff to cat

watched 2 yachts break anchor on tbeir way to habana!  Made eye contact w the guy….he was that close…surreal … !
