To me it goes (in order)

Marcus Freeman.
Lane Kiffin.
Curt Cignetti.

thoughts?

My little opinion is Freeman would be the best fit.

- Freeman makes the most sense imo.  Young, energetic, likable, great recruiter.

- Kiffin would fix the offense, but would the Texas boosters put up with some of his antics?  Has a reputation of coming up short in big games as well.  If he retained PK and his staff, that could work out well.

- Cignetti would bring in his entire staff as they’ve worked with him since his JMU days.  However, I worry about his age.  Would be a home run hire if he was 10 years younger.

If kiffin came in and was able to keep PK, I’d have no worries about our team next year.

cignetti just signed that new deal too

I mean I get it but sark signed a new deal 2 seasons ago and he’s looking to leave. Money talks. And Texas has more than Indiana

Kiffin is also a Sexton client, always interesting that nobody has taken the Florida job almost like many were anticipating a better one opening, also Cignetti is not leaving however I know people dismiss Dan Lanning but, and a big one at that, Texas and Georgia are the only schools that could potentially coo him away from Oregon

Thought about listing Dan lanning, I just don’t see him leaving Oregon, and if he thought about it, Oregon would fight like hell to keep him

Yes however, Oregon is very much in a Texas Tech position in that they have to pay a premium for recruits to go there due to its geographical location.

I’m not the biggest fan of Kiffin. He’s Lane first and team second, and I don’t trust that he’ll be here in a few years.

Dan Lanning isn't happening. They have almost unlimited NIL, team is doing well, national recruiting...   no reason to leave.

Not sure our fan base will be content with 10-2 to 9-3, losing in big games and no CFB appearances

Y’all are forgetting about Saban

Wishful thinking, but we have a better shot at winning out and putting up 45 a game than we have of landing saban.

Agreed

In all realness here are the candidates:

1. Kiffin

2. Freeman

3. DeBoer

4. Clark Lea

5. Brent Key

HM: They will make phone calls to Saban, Lanning, etc. but highly unlikely

100+ million buyout may be an issue

If smart was interested, CDC would contribute to that buyout. 100%. It’s not like if sark leaves that cdc has to pay a buyout.

The 2-time natty champ UGA alum Kirby Smart or is there another Kirby Smart out there I'm unaware of?
