Playing this game on game day when you are 5-2 and had a 172 yards last week … “take the train” is my response

Which anonymous representative did she name?

Exactly! This “reporting” with no identified source is not journalism… it’s Fox News/National Esquire worthy garbage. People eat it up though.

I 100% believe what is reported was true, it's obvious Sarkisian isn't plugged in this season as in seasons past.

The only possible and/or likely scenarios are on who leaked it.

1) Sarkisian/Sexton - seems least likely because Sarkisian isn't that a big of an ahole and Sexton isn't an idiot. < 5% chance

2) Sark's wife - there are tensions and rumors surrounding her and she wanted out last year. 30-40% chance

3) NFL owners - They would absolutely know and there are several that probably dislike Texas. 20-30% chance.

4) Texas BMDs - There is enough of them that have ears in the NFL circles, could easily be them seeing the writing on the wall with Sarkisian and are premeptively striking. 25-45% chance

Disagree.

#1 is the most likely.

I don't know if someone would listen to Sark's wife or Texas BMDs and use it as a legitimate source, especially senior NFL reporters.

It’s frustrating, but the agents leak it this way so there is total deniability. It’s a dirty game, but there is truth in “Where there’s smoke, there’s fire.”

I don’t know what’s going on. But from a “just a fan” perspective something looks off. Sark has had a lot more “coach speak” and has been more touchy with the media. He also just doesn’t really look like he’s “all in.”

Thrives on anonymous sources every day… national reporter does it, suddenly it’s ‘garbage’? Are you discrediting Bobby and Gerry now?

His body language seems disinterested and like he doesn’t care.

Of course they would.

You got real journalism, you just don’t like it.

Where? Twitter is not real journalism. Who/what is the source? A reporter? I studied journalism. Have you? Watching Fox News does not qualify…

“Real journalism “ from who? The Athletic?

I think you’re reading something into the situation that isn’t there.

You studied journalism, like for real?

I thought that before this week. I don’t think all is well in Austin.

Would you like the Austin American statesmen to send you a newspaper which quotes the tweet from a reputable journalist?

A lot of news is broken on Twitter. It’s how things work nowadays.

It’s pretty much the place to get nba news. It will be there before espn reports it.

I believe in sources that have a name. This kind of rumor spreading does no one any favors. It is mere speculation and unnecessary distraction. Wake me up when there is a real story rather than National Enquirer with no pictures…

I definitely think this will be a distraction to the team, hell I’m a fan and I want us to win today for sure. But I’m really really intrigued to see what he says postgame, almost feel like I’m more interested in that. Can only imagine what the players are feeling.

If reporters outed their sources, we would never hear anything. Protecting your sources is a cornerstone of journalism.

I am going to look at this as a positive and we will be spared 30-40 million in buyouts down the road if he were to head to the NFL. That type of savings plus being owed 10 million by whomever hires him will give us a lot of money to target a big name.

For instance … if OTF puts out that sources told us Texas is close or about to get a commitment from player X … it’s BS because we didn’t say … “Texas position coach ___” told OTF that player X is closing on a commitment.

So anything we report is just BS?

I don't think you would put out a  story of this magnitude saying "you heard"..you would put out there that you have several sources or something of that nature.
