I can say this … DeBoer is pretty miserable at Bama per someone I trust.

Florida State too who would they get if they fire Mike Norvell?

Great Q. I hear Sumrall at Tulane and Golesh at USF will be on the list

Honestly @Gerry Hamilton I think sumrall to Kentucky an golesh to ole miss? That will leave James Franklin would that just be norvell 1.0

It's kinda funny that Napier beat Miss State, got booed and later fired. That's a wild series of events. Be interested to see who the names are being floated around.

Bull Gators (richest alums) want Lane Kiffin

Kiffin, Marcus Freeman and Eli Drinkwitz are mentioned most.

It should be 1. Freeman, 2a Drinkwitz and 2b Kiffin IMO

Has Dan Mullen been mentioned in any chatter to jump back into a Power 4 job?

Frankly I don’t care which person ends up at which school. I care about who’s in the portal as a result, if our coaches can rectify the lack of clear talent / experience / depth on offense that should have been addressed last year, and if we can outgun the ones now willing to spend like crazy to get those guys.

We differ. Texas doesn't have clear lack of talent. Texas has signed four straight top 5 classes of nationally recruited players.

There may be a lack of talent in certain areas, but that’s a direct result of staff decisions. When you’ve signed four straight top 5 classes and had full access to the transfer portal, any roster holes reflect evaluation and development issues, not roster limitations.

Or it may be something else. A few different paths to go down IMO.

After much thought I am removing my name from the University of Florida head coaching search. My focus will remain on family and current commitments. Best of luck to the program.

Gerry I’m not saying we don’t have talent in most places.  There’s talent everywhere on the team though OL has its talent deficiencies this year.   Clearly not every great coach hits on every recruit. It’s the job of the staff to realize that on the offensive line we have done a great job developing an underrecruited LT, have a young talented RT who needs reps, have a senior RG who should be dependable, but have concerns at LG where out biggest recruit has not panned out and we are relying on either a project with good strength but bad feet or a freshman who has only played tackle…. And a center that is completely new to the position that has been okay at guard only before.  At RB we have 2 out of our top 3 guys coming back from major injuries and the third guy not an every down back.   I’m not one to call for coaching changes at all as a knee jerk. i just think the staff played down possible problems that could have been addressed prior to this year. I hope they will address this better in what should be a wild portal year

GerryI share your appreciation for Freeman, but could you expand your reasoning for picking Drinkwitz slightly above Kiffin?

Maybe it's our current offensive problems, but I'm extremely envious of what Kiffin is doing with his offense.

Dan Mullen to Ole Miss I bet you @Gerry Hamilton

The boat is pretty big this year and almost all coaches are getting a ride. Campbell may not be as hot as he was a couple of years ago, but I think another school will try to hire him. If nothing else, he’ll get a bigger payday at ISU.

He'd be a name in the mix if Rhule leaves Nebraska, I have no doubt.

Where I stand on the players/talent conversation:

The players are changing and the results offensively are staying the same in the last 10-11 games.

Thats my No. 1 issue

They would succeed with all 3 of those, imo. With the money behind them and the recruiting ground in Florida and around them. Now it just depends if any of them want the job.

Starts at the top.

If Kiffin leaves Ole Miss for Florida (which I believe he should if offered), I'm curious who takes over Ole Miss. He has them in a good spot as a program. Dillingham would be interesting.
