Kalen Deboer: 8-4 fired?

Featured Replies

I might break my neck sucking my own co*k if he can’t get it done at bama since i was saying that’s a bad hire, CJ and gerry were persistent with he “wins everywhere he goes” lol

Two seasons are not enough to fairly judge unless he has lost control of the players.

Tbh I don't know if he's had control of the players since he got there.

I figured the moving van and “For Sale” sign were in front of his house Sunday morning

Pause😳 you’ll what?😂😂

Unless there's an absolute home run of a hire I think he'd be safe. The turnover due to transfers and recruits de-committing would dig that hole deeper. They need to weather the early storm and find stability as he recruits his guys and his players/jell.

Sark did worse in an awful conference his first two years but I'm glad he's Texas HC for sure.

There was a comment on Twitter that said players were up ordering door dash at 1 am sneaking people in the hotels etc… there was also a video of two players laughing on the field during the kneel down. If big money doners are fed up that fast anything is possible

5-5 in his last 10 at bama

Norvell and Riley have had bad seasons too.  Then they hit the portal hard and their schools backed them more in NIL and their high school recruiting picked up.  Might see that more in the NIL era.  HCs even at big name CFB programs sticking around due to big buyouts having that money allocated to NIL for the portal and high school recruiting.  He'll get next season to figure it out, but he has to get them to the CFP.

Alabama is in a place like Oklahoma and some other schools that cannot afford to fire a coach, hire new one, and keep NIL coffers up.

He had to know expectations were high after taking the job from a literal legend of the game, no? I doubt he gets fired, although 8-4 might get some more interesting calls from Bama fans onto Finebaums show lol.

His problem with the players is the players.  They are Saban kids, and they don’t want to play for him and probably nobody else either.  Bama should have hired someone they were familiar with.  Last year, he had to play Milroe.  The team would have revolted.  Milroe didn’t fit his scheme.  So, he is a year behind with Simpson.  Not having Grubbs hurt too but if a head coach needs particular guys to be successful than there will be a problem eventually once the guy gets an opportunity to get his own gig, which is one reason Saban was successful.  It would eventually be the downfall of Mack at the end.  He could not get the coordinator on the same page with him.

He'll get his 3 years. However, if he stays at the 8-win range, year 4 is a maybe. DeBoer is a good coach, but the culture fit at Bama was always questionable. Sark was their #1 choice.

His buyout is structured so that they would have to pay him in equal monthly installments through 2031. That isn't as burdensome as the buyouts where coaches are due a lump sum right away or within 30 days. The ability to spread out the payments could make it more realistic that he is let go.

I do think if they miss the playoffs this year, he will likely be shown the door. Whether fair or not.

It would be a really dumb move to fire him this year.  He HAS won everywhere he has been and these are not his guys.  Who are you going to replace him with?  He is about as sure of a bet as you can get in college football.  I give him some time to get it set up his way with HIS QB.  Following Saban is not easy first of all, but lets not forget one of the reasons Saban said in an interview on why he retired.  He was doing exit interviews and players kept talking about how much more money they needed rather than what they could do to be better. Sounds like Saban himself had a culture problem brewing and DeBoer walked into it.

The issue is not much the buyout, but giving a max contract to a new coach plus nil, and buyout of the current coaching staff. Bama doesn't have the money for all of that.

If enough people get upset, the pocketbooks will open up. It's Alabama. They have motivated donors who care. A lot.
