Like my momma use to say, โ€œIf you canโ€™t hang with the big dogs, go hang with the Georgia Bulldogsโ€, and if those two donโ€™t work out go hang with with Lanning and @Joe Zura

All these North Shore guys that have gone other places and largely flamed out, all while Corey Redding remains the best player with the best pro career in North Shore history. And he did that at Texas

  • A bit surprising imo. Calicut had Texas as his favorite in the spring and I had heard the official visit went very well over the weekend. Georgia remains tough to beat and North Shore remains unfriend

The only thing that should surprise anyone is that Texas continues to waste its time with North Shore.ย

I want to add this:

I do not think Calicut's commitment is done. I've heard he's leaning that way.

Their mods have remained confident with Calicut for weeks, including after this weekend. Theyโ€™re not always right, but they do seem to get solid info from the Georgia staff.ย

Thereโ€™s Redding, Hopkins and Chykie Brown on UTโ€™s side of the ledger and then thereโ€™s a ton of Zach Evans, Denver Harris and Shad Banks and 20 others like them on the other side of the ledger. Texas should just move on from NS if that doesnโ€™t tell the tale enough to win recruitments from there. There is an entrenched narrative being told in Galena Park that isnโ€™t worth the time to counter.ย

Maybe Sanchez winds up being more Chaisson and Redding than all of the busts, but the math says probably not. For Calicut, a tweener going to a place where multiple Texas kids have flamed out lately and a culture swirling around the toilet, he has bust written all over him if he chooses Georgia.ย

Whatโ€™s the story with North Shore hating on Texas? ย Just too deep in Aggie territory or did something happen with specific players back in the day that soured the relationship? @CJ Vogel

I believe UGA is trying to sell him on being a big corner. ย At least thatโ€™s what their mods are saying. ย

We need someone secretly hiding behind a couch to hear what UGA is telling him. ย ย

Yes sir, you are correct amundo.

And we continue to ignore Westlake even though we have 2 DEs and a really good safety (not offered) from there.ย  We stomped a mudhole in that "talented" NS team last year.ย  Is ANYONE from Westlake even being recruited?ย  Of course not.

Just the "talented" NS.

I'm sure if Sark thought Westlake had a player who could help us he would be recruiting them.ย

Someone needs to change the narrative over there.

Corey Redding is way before anyone's time there so I doubt they'll ever care.

Those poor poor Westlake kids. Theyโ€™ve just been through so much adversity!

Benjamin is as talented as any DB in this cycle imo. He's a stud.

Where do we stand with him? Been very quiet imo

@Gerry Hamiltonย @Bobby BurtonIs Simeon leaning our way and we're just giving Johnson this week to make a decision, or will we tell Simeon no without a firm commitment from JJ?

Simeon seems like a high character kid, so I'd hate to miss out on a top 150 kid if we didn't need to, but it sounds like the staff thinks JJ is a game changer.

Guys,

Not sure how to explain this better.

Simeon is not considered just another guy.

He is seen as an elite prospect by Texas. Take public recruiting rankings out of the equation.

Folks say he keeps a lower profile. Makes me like him even more.ย

Do we think this will impact Texasโ€™ on-field success as much as missing on Denver Harris or Zach Evans?

Everyone needs to chill with emotional responses. The issue Georgia is recruiting him as a CB and Texas is recruiting him as a Safety. This is what happened last year in the recruiting of Kade Phillips. Texas which to recruiting him as CB and signed with Texas. The issue isnโ€™t North Shore.

Nah the issue definitely is north shore and itโ€™s not even an emotional response to say that. Itโ€™s actually backed by the proof in the pudding that that school produces bust at an extremely high rate given the amount of talent they put out.ย

Apparently Georgia is recruiting him as CB, while Texas as a Safety is the issue.

The parallels to the Kade Phillips recruitment from a year ago are hard to ignore.ย  Seems like one that goes our way come December.
