FPI Gone Wild - "2025 College Football Power Index: Best matchups, title odds" -Texas shines

Featured Replies

Holy Bevo, those computer nerds generating the FPI at ESPN surely do love themselves some Texas football (and SEC in general).  The 2025 FPI projections dropped today and it's a Longhorn fan's wet dream.

Texas Longhorns are ranked # 1 with a 22.2% chance of winning the championship.  Georgia # 2, Bama # 4.  Whatever happened to Clemson and Penn State, one might ask?

It gets better, believe it or not.  Best offense? Texas, followed by Georgia and Bama.  Best defense? You know by now - Texas, followed by Georgia and Bama.  Somehow I think this might be skewed just slightly towards the SEC.

Finally, "Most anticipated games of 2025 based on projected FPI ratings"  Texas plays in the top 2 (@Georgia and @Ohio State), 3 of the top 6 (@Florida), 4 of the top 9 (A&M), 5 of the top 13 (Oklahoma), 6 of the top 24 (@Kentucky).

This seems just a little crazy to me.  But I'm hoping they are right, especially about the championship.
