Righty Jordan Stephens is the new pitcher for UGA. The sophomore transfer is 3-0 (two saves) with a 2.63 ERA. This is his 12th appearance of the season.

Grubbs opens the eighth by striking out Obee and cleanly fielding a rifle shot off the bat of Adams.

Grubbs retires the Bulldogs in order in the eighth. The Longhorns are three outs away from a series win.

M8: Texas 7, Georgia 4

Grubbs has been solid.  The more I watch this team the more I like them.  Happy to sacrifice the occasional Tuesday loss for fine-tuning things against a non-con team if we can take series like this in conference.

 

 

 

 

Farmer opened the eighth with a walk, but the promising start was all for naught. Farmer was thrown out at second base trying to steal and Duplantier struck out, bringing Mendoza to the plate with two outs.

Mendoza looks at strike three as Stephens mows the Longhorns down in order in the eighth.

Grubbs remains on the hill. Branch, Alford and Burnett due up for Georgia.

Schuessler saves a wild throw by Borba, twisting his body in the air. Branch's roller was slow enough to get him to first base to lead off the Georgia ninth.

After a 6-4-3 double play, Texas is one strike away from the win.

Grubbs strikes Burnett out swinging. Ballgame. Texas wins the series.

The Longhorns move to 25-4 on the season and are 10-1 in the SEC. Texas is the first SEC team to reach 10 conference wins.

So I thought Texas wouldn't be able to compete in the SEC? 

If we could cut down on the strikeouts (13) it might ease some of the tension.  Luckily we had some clutch hitting.  I agree with some others that a bit more lineup shuffling is probably needed.  Flores had a nice double but his SEC batting average is not good.  Of course, almost everyone's has gone down since SEC play started.

What a comeback!!   Awesome!! 

Wow. This roster is deeper than was given credit for going into the season. Really awesome result.
