Fought off two set points to tie it at 24.

Three of Mississippi's last 5 points were on our service errors. 

Pulled it out 27-25.  A lot of shared duty among Wenaas, Rutherford, and Singletary to get points down the stretch.

Our blocking finally started showing up in the third set.  Ames solo block wins it 25-23.  We had 2 blocks in the first two sets combined.  We had 4 in the third set.

Nia Washington is tiny, but she is probably pound for pound the hardest hitter in the game. 

Going to a fifth set.

why can’t these girls perform at home? 

We're 0-5 in fifth sets this year and starting this one with a thud.  5-1 Mississippi.  Timeout Texas.

Staring at a 8-3 deficit, we got a solo block from Singletary and two severe cross court kills by Rutherford.  8-6.

Mississippi flubbed offspeeed by Rutherford, then Washington got her 29th kill, then Rutherford got blocked, then Wenaas sailed one.  11-7 Mississippi.  Looking grim.

We let their next serve land in the corner without making an attempt to play it.  Then another Mississippi kill.  13-7.

Trying to come out of it.  Back to back to back kills by Rutherford and Kahahawai and Rutherford again.  13-10.  Timeout Mississippi.

Facing 4 match points.

Singletary kill middle, back to back long hitting errors by Mississippi, second being challenged for a touch.

Not even close.  Rutherford Ames block ties it up.

Washington kill, and Texas staves off a fifth match point with a Rutherford kill. 

Carlson kill gives us our first lead in the 5th set.

Kahahawai nails the winner.  Our first 5th set victory this year.

Last point had a lot of really good components.  Serve was tricky, Wenaas made a great dig, and Kahahawai went cross-court and overpowered Washington trying to dig it. 

Maybe this is the match that lights the fire. Plus Madi didn’t play because she was sick.
