This is a great hire IMO. While Jeff Banks has been a very good ST coach during his time on the 40 Acres, I felt like Texas took another step forward this year in that regard and I think DeCamillis certainly helped.

Agree! I’d bet Banks will continue to apply some of the ideas Joe provided. I was selfishly hoping he would stick around another year, obviously wishful thinking on my part.

I think just having him for that one year was an unexpected gift.

A move like this was expected. DeCamillis deserves a full-time gig. But I think it will have an impact on the Horns ST unit.

never fun to see any of the staff move on.... but always happy that others want what we have. That being said, are there any others on staff that are actively being looked at?

Well, Payam Sadat and another young assistant already went with Jeff Choate as did a recruiting guy.

Paul Chryst is still there on offense.

Guessing we could see some additional analyst hired at some point in the months ahead? Filling the roles of Joe D, Payam, Jacquies Smith and Joey Thomas “the other young assistant you mentioned”?

Also, and sorry if I have this wrong, wasnt Joe D one that was there in Sarks ear to help manage the game in general?

Yes

This is a loss for our special teams and game management. I trust we’ll fill both roles well.
