Longhorns forward Deyona Gaston has entered the portal. Gaston was named the Big 12 'Sixth Man of the Year' after averaging 8.4 points per game and 4.2 rebounds per game this season.

She will have two years of eligibility remaining due to her COVID year.

A Texas native, Gaston originally committed to Vic Schaefer at Mississippi State before following him to the University of Texas.

She was coming off the bench this past season..

She had a late start and never really got in a groove. She missed a significant portion of the season after injury. By the time she found her legs the rotation was pretty much set.

Former #1 player in her class before injuries began to plague her during high school. Unfortunately, don’t think she’s ever fully recovered and nagging injuries have continued to affect her.

Thank you for your hard work and perseverance during your time here D!

Well said. Best of luck to her!

And with Booker returning to PF next season, she knew her minutes would decline.  I admired her as a player.

Best of luck to her.
