Passing of a High School Coaching Legend

Featured Replies

Sad to report on the passing for former West Columbia coach, Jack Hays.  He is a member of the Texas High School Coaches Hall of Honor and was well respected by his peers.  He was my cousin and spent his some of his childhood chumming with my father.  Both were coaches and both in the Hall of Honor.

His daughter, Jenna Hays McEachern has written about Texas football and is as much of a source on information as her friend Bill Little.

Condolences of his kids Jack Jr., Jenna and Colonel Jeff Hays Jeff Hays spent many years coaching at Air Force Academy after graduating from there.

Service details are pending

Sad.  He was a good guy.  I went to Texas when Jack, jr. was there.  We lived on the same floor at Jester Center.

I met Jack sr. several times.  The same with Jenna.  A really nice girl.

My condolences.

Coach Hays was also the father-in-law to Randy McEachern, former UT QB when Earl was winning the Heisman
