UPDATE after Sunday's game via Jeff: After the game, Schloss said that Jonah banged up his shoulder in the Friday game. It was the same shoulder he previously injured.

As you’ve seen, Jonah Williams hasn’t been in the lineup this weekend for Texas baseball’s home series against USC Upstate. OTF is working on gathering details of why the sophomore outfielder has been absent from the lineup, but we're told he was still an active participant with the baseball team.

As it pertains to Monday’s start of spring football, OTF is told the focus will remain on baseball for Williams and if he is at football practice on Monday, it won’t be as an active participant due to the “time spent” NCAA rules that allot how much of an athlete’s given week can be centered around athletics.

Williams still partakes in football meetings as much as he can, but baseball has been the primary focus in his second season with the Longhorns.

We'll continue to update this thread as we learn more.

Thanks, Hank, but in my mind I am erasing Jonah Williams from the football team--I simply cannot allow myself to count on him anymore.   😔

I don’t consider Jonah as a Longhorns football player. He’s irrelevant to me as far as football is concerned. I’ve moved on from him mentally. We’d all be best served by doing the same.

Is he getting injured because he's playing both or is it just that he is injury prone. If he is injury prone he might as well just play baseball. He's less likely to get injured.

Here's the quote from Schloss on Jonah's shoulder, which, again, is the same one he previously injured. Schloss confirmed that it happened in the Friday game when he dove for a fly ball.

“When he dove for that ball. I don’t think it’s anything super serious; he’s just sore. We’ll find out when we get it looked at tomorrow. But just banged his shoulder up a little bit. I think he’s OK, though.”

He needs to pick a sport, because he can't stay healthy being a 365 athlete. Frankly, due to his lack of power on the baseball field, he should probably pick football.

at this point, he has injury issues.  between his shoulder and his hammy, he hasn't been able to stay healthy
